FIELD: hardware production, possibly manufacture of wire from rolled rod. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of fine cleaning of rod at using ultrasonic oscillations by means of liquid containing components of underlubricant layer; changing frequency and intensity of ultrasonic oscillations as moving rod. After mechanically cleaning, on surface of rod there are remained particles whose size is in range from units until hundreds of micrometers. Ultrasonic oscillations with different frequency and intensity allow to remove remaining scale of any size. Usage of liquid including components of underlubricant layer allows to apply uniform good-adhesion underlubricant layer due to activation in ultrasonic field. EFFECT: desired smoothness of wire surface providing high adhesion and continuity of subsequent coating layers applied on wire, enhanced efficiency of drawing process due to increased drawing speed and high strength of drawing tool.
