FIELD: mechanical engineering technology, particularly, abrasive finishing of any surfaces. SUBSTANCE: method includes rotation of cylindrical blanks and installation of grinding wheel on arbor. To obtain oscillating in blank longitudinal direction polishing, grinding wheel is installed by means of bearing on arbor with rotation from blank due to friction forces and oscillation of grinding wheel working layer along arbor axis. Two kinds of operating conditions are provided: rotation of grinding wheel at speed of blank rotation and at lower speed. Said operating conditions are effected due to special installation of bushing on arbor, or bushing is installed in form of inner race of roller radial needle bearing, or said bearing is fitted on bushing. Axes of external and internal surfaces of bushing are intersecting in symmetry center at angle α. Grinding wheel is made on flexible base. It is installed on outer race of said bearing at angle α to plane perpendicular to arbor rotation axis. For rotation of grinding wheel at speed lower than that of blank, use is made of race truncated at angle α to plane perpendicular to arbor rotation axis. Race is fastened to end face of grinding wheel and slowed down by bell-crank. EFFECT: increased efficiency and quality of polishing, extended production process potentialities and provided variation of trace direction of abrasive worked grain with respect to traces of previous polishing to provide trace pattern and character of microgeometry similar to those in honing and grinding-honing with application of vibration. 4 cl, 6 dwg, 1 ex
