ELECTROLYZER TO WIN MAGNESIUM AND PROCESS OF PRODUCTION OF MAGNESIUM IN IT Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2220232 C2

FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, design of electrolyzers to win magnesium. SUBSTANCE: electrolyzer to win magnesium has bath lined with refractory materials, electrolytic compartments with graphite anodes alternating with steel cathodes, collection cells positioned in parallel with electrodes and separated from electrolytic compartments by partitions. Electrodes in electrolytic compartments are connected in parallel and electrodes of each electrolytic compartment are connected in series with electrodes of adjacent electrolytic compartment. Collection cell located between electrolytic compartments connected in series is placed between unlike electrodes having equal electric potential. Magnesium is won in electrolyzer of given design with setting of interelectrode space in electrolytic compartments equal to 20-30 mm and cathode density of current 0.40-0,60 A/sq cm. EFFECT: enhanced operational efficiency of electrolyzer. 2 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl
