FIELD: radar meteorology. SUBSTANCE: method involves separating hail center on local map by radar sounding of near-ground atmospheric layer in hail precipitation zone and determining hail precipitation characteristics; calculating total amount of precipitated hail particles in each discrete area of hail center; separating from total amount of hail particles precipitated during the entire hailstorm cycle only the part that is in immediate contact with top part of crop and subjecting this part to destructing action; determining area of actual section of said hail particles; judging damage caused by hailstorm to farm crops by calculating ratio of said area to area of projection of crop top part on ground surface. EFFECT: increased precision in determining of damage caused by hailstorm to crops.
