METHOD OF INCREASING HEIGHT OF CRANE TOWER Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; materials handling facilities. SUBSTANCE: method includes installation of tower section in vertical position in opening of fixed part of tower under lower ends of movable part of tower, lifting tower section in vertical position to thrust its upper end face against lower end of movable part of tower, lifting movable part of tower relative to its fixed part and connecting the parts. Installation of tower section in vertical position under lower end in opening of fixed part of tower is carried out by fixing of first one side of tower section in first fixing points with possibility of turning relative to fixed part of tower. Then tower section is turned towards fixed part of tower relative to first fixing points and opposite side of tower section is fixed in second fixing points. Then tower section is turned further towards its fixed part relative to second fixing points till the moment when section occupies vertical position. Turning of section towards second fixing points is carried out with displacement of gravity center of section behind first fixing points towards side opposite to fixed part of tower.
