PROCESS OF PRODUCTION OF OPTIMAL QUANTITY OF ELECTROLYTE IN STORAGE BATTERY Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2227349 C1

FIELD: electrical power engineering. SUBSTANCE: process of production of optimal quantity of electrolyte in nickel-hydrogen storage battery includes in accordance with invention vacuum impregnation of elements up to complete filling and removal of electrolyte by conducting charge-discharge cycles in following sequence. During first cycle storage battery is charged with current Ich to 0.05-0.20 fraction of design electric capacitance (Cd) to charge capacitance (0.8-1.2)Cd. In first cycle hydrogen pressure Pec is established at end of charge, storage battery is discharged with current Id equal to (0,05-0,40)•Cd to voltage of end of discharge Ved =n•(0,8-1,0), V, where n is number of storage cells in storage battery. Then 1-15 cycles are conducted with currents Ich and Id equal to (0,05-0,40)•Cd. Charging is carried out to pressure Id, storage battery is discharged to Ved. Later 3 to 15 cycles are conducted with currents Ich and Id equal to (0,1-0,8)•Cd, charging is carried out to pressure Pec and discharge to Ved. At final stage cycling is conducted with currents Ich and Id equal to currents of charge and discharge under standard operation, charge is performed to Pec, discharge to Ved. In process of charging-discharging cycles surplus of electrolyte is thrown away by hydrogen escaping during charging. EFFECT: production of optimal quantity of electrolyte. 2 cl, 3 dwg
