FIELD: polymer materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention provides method, which comprises contacting α-olefin monomers with catalytic system containing catalyst and activator (cocatalyst) in reaction mixture. Catalyst is based on transition metal, preferably titanium trichloride, and cocatalyst may contain alkylaluminooxane, solely or in combination with dialkylaluminum halide or a halohydrocarbon. Polymerization of α-olefin monomers results in formation of noncrystalline high-molecular weight poly-α-olefin having intrinsic viscosity at least 10 dl/g. When alkylaluminooxane is added in the course of polymerization, noncrystalline high-molecular weight poly-α-olefin with more uniform molecular weight distribution is obtained thereby providing flow resistance reducing agent, which is more efficient than known agents. Method of preparing such agent is described.
