MACROPOROUS CHITOSAN GRANULES AND METHOD FOR THEIR PREPARING, METHOD FOR CULTURING CELLS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2234514 C2

FIELD: biology, medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to macroporous chitosan granules having relatively large and similar pores of size 30-150 mcm externally and internally that are distributed from surface to core region, and to a method for their preparing. Method involves the following stages: addition of chitosan solution, an aqueous chitosan solution or their mixture by drops to low-temperature organic solvent or liquid nitrogen; regulation of pores size by method for phase separation due to difference of temperatures. Macroporous chitosan granules enhance effectiveness of culturing cells as compared with previous substrates as cells can attach effectively to substrates owing to larger square of their surface and cells can enter to them easily. Cells attached to such substrates can exist for a longer time owing to their three-dimensional structure. Therefore, macroporous chitosan granules can be used for study of production of protein, antibiotics, anticancer agents, polysaccharides, physiologically active substances, animal and plant hormones, and for investigation of replacing metabolic organs, cartilage or bone.

EFFECT: improved preparing method, valuable biological and medicinal properties.
