METHOD OF INITIATING RAIN PREFERABLY DURING DRY SUMMER PERIOD Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2234831 C1

FIELD: hydrometeorology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to actively influencing hydrometeorological phenomena for initiating atmospheric precipitates in the form of rain, preferably during dry summer period, and may be used in a variety of national economy branches, in particular for fire extinguishing, in agriculture, for cleaning atmospheric air from smog over industrial areas, and to enhance irrigation water yield. Method consists in creation of descending convection currents within instable surface air by affecting the latter with pulverized water. Pulverized water, when being mixed with air, is vaporized and cools surrounding air, which, in common with water vapor, stimulates formation of descending convection air currents. These currents, on contact with earth surface, are transformed into ascending currents, which, when reaching the height ensuring condensation of water vapors contained therein, initiate formation of lower-level rain cloud therefrom and intensive pouring-out of rain from the cloud. Method is realized in two steps. In the first step, one determines wind direction and velocity, humidity of air located over earth area intended for intensive irrigation, and distance from this area to water pulverization zone. Thereafter, one calculates pulverization height, amount of water being pulverized, specific consumption thereof per 1 m2 in order to determine a type and number of high load-capacity vehicles needed for water transportation. In the second step, when service tanks are filled with water, corresponding vehicles are flying up and after reaching pulverization zone descend to the water pulverization height and simultaneously produce mentioned water pulverization.

EFFECT: facilitated rain initiation.
