FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves pelletizing burden on pelletizer plate for producing of crude pellets forming descending, ascending and circulation flows; preliminarily drying pellets with air jets; placing pellets in layer onto fire grate of roasting machine; providing final drying including feeding tuyere gases from the bottom through said layer, with following reversal thereof. Preliminary drying is provided by blowing-through of circulation flow of pellets with air jets supplied from the top under pressure of at least 500 Pa and having temperature of 20-2500C. Method further involves increasing air jet pressure applied onto pellet layer by 80-100 Pa each time air temperature drop by 200C occurs.
EFFECT: reduced pellet drying process time and increased efficiency of method.
