FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method for continuous casting of band of austenite stainless steel with thickness 10 mm or less directly from melt state comprises steps of feeding melt steel between two horizontal cooled rolls. Steel contains, mass %: carbon, no more than 0.08; silicone, no more than 1; phosphorus, no more than 0.04; manganese, no more than 2; chrome, 17 - 20; nickel, 8 - 10,5; sulfur, 0.007 - 0.040; iron and impurities caused by melting, the balance. Relation Creq/Nieq is in range 1.55 - 1.90 at Creq(%) = Cr% +1.37 Mo% +1.5 Si % + 2 Nb % +3 Ti % and Nieq(%) = Ni % + 0.31 Mn % + 22 C% + 14.2 N% + Cu %. On surfaces of rolls there are mutually adjoined round or elliptical recesses with diameter 100 - 1500 micrometers and with depth 20 - 150 micrometers. Inert gas supplied around meniscus represents soluble in steel gas or mixture of such gases, or inert gas containing at least 50 vol.% of gas of mixture of gases soluble in steel.
EFFECT: simplified condition of casting steel, elimination of microcracking and other flaws on steel surface.
