FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: process for continuous casting of band of ferrite stainless steel with thickness 10 mm comprises steps of supplying melt metal between two cooled driven rolls with horizontal axes. Melt metal contains (vol.%): (carbon + nitrogen), 0.12 or less; manganese, 1 or less; phosphorus, 0.04 or less; silicon, 1 or less, molybdenum, 2.5 or less; chrome, 11 - 19; aluminum, 1 or less; (titanium + niobium + zinc), 1 or less, iron and inevitable impurities, the balance. Melt metal factor γp = 420 C% +470 N% + 23 Ni % + 9 Cu% + 7 Mn% -11.5 Cr% - 11.5 Si% - 12 Mo% - 23 V% - 47 Nb% - 49 Ti% - 52 Al% +189,indicating maximum quantity of austenite in melt metal is in range 35 - 60%. Roughness degree Ra of roll surface is more than 5 micrometers. Near meniscus of melt arranged between rolls there is inert gas containing at least 60 vol.% of gas dissolved in steel.
EFFECT: prevention of micro-cracking of thin bands of ferrite stainless steel, simplified casting process, enlarged manufacturing possibilities due to possibility of using different kinds of steels.
