FIELD: production of filaments for manufacture of mineral wool with the use of filament forming equipment for forming of filaments from mineral melt.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus has first and second rotors rotating in opposite directions to define upper pair of rotors, and filament forming device having at least one additional rotor, preferably pair of rotors arranged under upper pair of rotors. Method involves feeding mineral melt from melting furnace or like unit in the form of melt flow toward first position on surface of shell of first rotor, throwing away said melt flow from surface of shell of first rotor in the form of droplet cascade toward surface of shell of second rotor; transforming first portion of mineral melt into filaments on second rotor and blowing resulting filaments from second rotor; throwing second portion of mineral melt from second rotor in the form of droplet cascade, with main part of droplet cascade being thrown away from second rotor so as to settle onto surface of first rotor shell adjacent to second position, downstream of said first position; forming portion of mineral melt into filaments on first rotor and blowing resulting filaments from rotor.

EFFECT: increased efficiency in manufacturing filaments for mineral wool without deteriorating its quality.
