FIELD: composite materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of composite materials - cermets - and can be used to obtain strong, wear-resistant tribological products, as well as for the manufacture of abrasive tools. Aluminium powder, consisting of lamellar particles coated with stearin, was heat treated in air until the stearin was completely removed. A preform was pressed from the resulting powder product under a pressure of 50–150 MPa and heated with an air coolant to initiate the process of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) in the filtration combustion mode, followed by cooling in the open air at room temperature. After that, additional pressing of the workpiece was carried out under a pressure of 950-1200 MPa and sintering in vacuum at the temperature of 0.990-0.997 of the aluminium melting temperature for 1-5 minutes.
EFFECT: increased strength and hardness of the sintered material, characterized by a density of 2.72-2.77 g/cm3, flexural strength of 430-470 MPa, Brinell hardness of 112-130.
