FIELD: technologies for recognizing air targets by signal signs, in other words, characteristic properties of radiolocation signals reflected from different targets.

SUBSTANCE: method may be utilized in multi-channel impulse-Doppler tracking radiolocation stations with adjustment of frequency from impulse to impulse. Method is useable for deciding whether targets belong to category of decoys. During simultaneous tracking of M targets by means of M goal channels as a result of selection, decision is taken separately for each individual m-numbered target about it belonging to category of either real or decoy targets. Selection if performed during two stages. At first stage, on basis of level of irregularity of amplitude-frequency characteristic of each target, objects are divided in two sub-categories: category of real targets and category, including low-sized real aircrafts. At second stage on basis of average level of reflected signals, final decision is taken about whether each one of M tracked targets belongs to decoy class.

EFFECT: selection is possible both when using corner reflectors, lenses and other outdated imitators, and when using latest modifications of decoy relays of type TALD or MALD.
