FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: proposed power unit that can be used for static converters characterized in rigorous requirements to degree of protection according to IP (IP54, IP64) code in compliance with State Standard GOST 14254-96, for static converters designed for operation at ambient temperatures ranging between -60 and +50 °C, and for high-power semiconductor static power converters incorporating combined forced cooling systems is characterized in effective heating and cooling system using non-dielectric liquid for the purpose and makes it possible to build high-power converters accommodated in single cabinet. It is, essentially, closed coolant-carrying circuit incorporating pump with suction and delivery lines, heating and cooling systems, provided with control unit electrically connected to temperature sensor, heating and cooling systems. Power unit has cooler that mounts semiconductor power devices, temperature sensor, pump, coolant tank, heating and cooling units, and surge tank; cooler that has channels under all or some ribs throughout its entire length is provided on its top and bottom end surfaces with cavities designed to ensure communication between channels made under cooler ribs with the result that coolant-carrying communicating channels are formed in this cooler. An alternative design of power unit is proposed that has capacitor-bank filter Ud which is distinguished by minimized stray inductance of power buses due to the fact that these buses are directly installed and secured on highest-speed switches, are large in surface, and capacitors of filter Ud and snubber capacitors are mounted directly on these buses and directly connected thereto. As compared with power units using multilayer current-carrying buses, this one is more compact and needs no special equipment for its manufacture.

EFFECT: facilitated maintenance, reduced size, mass, and cost.
