FIELD: medicine; medical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: device has two covers connectable to each of the adjacent vertebrae (7) in the first invention embodiment. At least one of the covers has teeth system (9) turned towards the vertebra. The system has at least one tooth (9) one lateral side (10) of which is steep and having ventral direction, and the other one (11) being less steep and dorsally directed. Dorsal supporting surface (16) is available on ventral cover edge. The surface is formed with ventral flange (15) of cover (1,3) engageable with ventral surface of vertebra (7). Height of flange (15) above the surface having teeth system (9) takes not more than 1/5 of anteroposterior cover size. The second invention embodiment has covers (3) connectable to each of the adjacent vertebrae (7). At least one of the covers has teeth system (9) turned towards the vertebra. The system has at least one tooth (9) one lateral side (10) of which is steep and having ventral direction, and the other one (11) being less steep and dorsally directed. Dorsal supporting surface (16) is available on ventral cover edge engageable with ventral surface of vertebra (7). The supporting surface is built by two projections symmetrically separated from each other to a distance relative to sagittal median axis (8) of cover (1,3). Method involves making a groove of vertebra (7) coming in engagement with one of covers (1,3) for placing part (15) of cover (1,3) having rest surface into it, before setting the intervertebral prosthesis.
EFFECT: gained additional space; avoided screw fixation.
