FIELD: hydrology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used at estimation of water resources. According to proposed method, number of water passages is measured. Water passages are grouped according to order of connection to higher-order water passage according to R.Horton classification. Length and area of watershed for each inflow of river are defined more exactly basing on results of field or other measurements carried out in each R. Horton group. Multitude of water passages consisting of at least one R.Horton group of water passages is taken for statistical modeling. Step of grouping is calculated separately according to intervals of inflow length and separately according to intervals of area of wastershed. Steps of grouping are defined more exactly by results of exclusion of unique inflows from multitude. Then inflows of multitude adapter for statistical modeling are distributed according to intervals of length of inflows and area of their watershed taken into account. Parameters of statistical models are determined according to stable distribution laws. River net is evaluated by mathematical laws of distribution of number of inflows according intervals of length and area of wastershed.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of measurements.
