FIELD: physics, navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydrography and can be used for hydrographic evaluation of a river network. The method includes determining the number of tributaries; specifying the length of each tributary base on results of field or other measurements; constructing hydrographic maps of the river network; distributing values of lengths of the tributaries into groups; selecting anthropogenically modified parts of the river network; selecting on the entire river network and on parts thereof, fractal groups on the adjustment of tributaries; assigning ranks to the fractal groups; making up a table of ranks of fractal groups and lengths of tributaries; determining from the table data, using an exponential law, average change in the length of tributaries depending on the rank of fractal groups.
EFFECT: high accuracy of evaluation.
