FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy. Particularly it relates to steel smelting in converter. Method includes feeding into converter of magnesia-alumina flux, manufactured by method of briquetting, burnt in rotary kiln. Flux contains oxides of magnesium and iron, together with slag, received by means of aluminium scrap remelting with addition or without addition of carbon-bearing materials, additionally it contains oxides and (or) chlorides, and (or) fluorides of alkaline metals, in amount 5.0-60.0 kg/t of available steel and allows content, wt %: calcium oxide 0.5-15.0; ferric oxide 0.1-10.0; aluminium oxide 0.1-20.0; silicon oxide 1.0-10.0; oxides and (or) chlorides, and (or) fluorides of alkaline metals 0.01-10.0; carbon 0.01-15.0; organic and (or) mineral compounds 1.0-10.0; magnesium oxide - the rest.
EFFECT: stableness increasing of vessel lining and improving of the slag-forming process.
