FIELD: lighting engineering; single-barrier vacuum lamps operating in ultraviolet spectrum range.
SUBSTANCE: proposed ultraviolet vacuum lamp that can be used for instance in microelectronics for treatment and cleaning of surface by its irradiation has its cathode periodically contacting dielectric walls of bulb. Such contact between cathode and bulb walls provides for reducing breakdown voltage at contact point whereupon breakdown of remaining parts of lamp effective space occurs as discharge develops due to impact of ultraviolet pre-ionization. This ensures reduction in lamp firing voltage and preemptive energy release in vicinity of tube surface thereby reducing temperature of bulb and working gas.
EFFECT: reduced breakdown voltage as well as temperature of lamp bulb and working gas.
