FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, in particular, lining for steel melting converters.
SUBSTANCE: liner has reinforcement and working layers made in the form of rings. Gap between working layer rings is filled with refractory mass which forms during operation steps by means of which steps lining slag is retained on liner. Refractory mass is formed from material having higher erosion resistance than working layer material. Height of gap makes 1-1.3% the height of liner working layer ring. Gap is filled with refractory mass having resistance to mechanical slag erosion exceeding that of working layer by 8-12%.
EFFECT: increased strength of liner resulting in reduced idle time of converter for repair.
