METHOD OF DIAGNOSING OF CONTACT BATTERY IGNITION SYSTEM OF GASOLINE ENGINE Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC F02P17/00

FIELD: diagnosing of contact battery ignition systems of gasoline engines; check of electric circuit elements in other fields.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes measurement of characteristics of primary and secondary voltages in ignition system circuits. Then areas for local diagnostics having functional connection with parameters of technical state of ignition system are set according to measured characteristics. During analysis of preset areas of local diagnostics, groups of diagnostic signs are selected and numerical values are determined for these groups at various modes of check. Then magnitudes of diagnostic signs are compared with rated values and are coded: each diagnostic sign is given diagnostic code according to results of comparison. Diagnostic codes thus obtained are compared with set of codes in diagnostic matrix and conclusion on technical state of ignition system is taken according to results of comparison in automatic mode.

EFFECT: enhanced reliability and efficiency of diagnostics; increase in fuel saving; low toxicity of exhaust gases.
