FIELD: motor vehicle industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control and diagnostics of petrol injection system (PIS) of automobile internal combustion engine (ICE). Proposed method for on-board localization of internal leakages of PIS involves creation by software of on-board diagnostics system of gasoline supply system equipped with an electric fuel valve in a discharge line and supplemented with an electric fuel valve in a return line, one optimized existing diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and three additional DTC, that carry information not only on leak tightness of PIS in general, but also on leaks of a fuel pressure control, electric fuel pump and electromagnetic injectors of injection. DTC are read by a diagnostic scanner in the OBD-II system from the memory of the ICE electronic control unit.

EFFECT: provision of on-board localization of internal leakages of PIS, as well as improvement of accuracy and reduction of time for diagnostics of PIS leaks.
