FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: hodoscope for slow neutrons, optical elements of which are made from non-scintillating optically transparent elements, at least one of the edges of each element is covered by a scintillator for detecting slow neutrons, photodiodes are connected to inputs of coincidence circuits, outputs of which are connected to inputs of a controller, and outputs of the controller are connected to a computer input.
EFFECT: increased sensitivity of detecting sources of fast and slow neutrons, reduced sensitivity to background gamma radiation, increased accuracy of determining direction of a source, especially a source of slow neutrons, simplification of the technology of making the hodoscope.
