FIELD: electrical engineering; accumulator batteries.
SUBSTANCE: when accumulator battery (AB) is connected to device, type of battery is automatically defined and method and algorithm of charging is selected that corresponds to type of AB. Device contains circuit of control according to preset algorithm and power part control circuit. Control unit in the form of single crystal microprocessor (SCM) generates signals according to charging algorithm for control of high frequency PDM-transducers. As load to charging PDM-transducer accumulator battery is connected, is also serves as the source of power supply to discharging PDM-transducer. Signal from current detector is sent to SCM, which sets and maintains the necessary level of charging and discharging current in accordance with charging algorithm. Signal from AB voltage detector is sent to SCM for monitoring of charging process and determination of criteria of charge completion. Result is achieved by means of possibility of conducting AB standard charging with direct current with preliminary additional discharge. Device is designed for charging NiCd and NiMH AB with nominal voltage that exceeds, is equal or less than voltage of device supply voltage.
