FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: proposed device that can be used for high-speed charge of storage batteries with DC current using charge-discharge PWM converters and for charging sealed storage batteries has control circuit using desired algorithm and power section control circuit. Control unit in the form of single-chip microprocessor generates signals in compliance with charge algorithm to control high-frequency PWM converters. Storage battery that functions as load connected to PWM converter is used as power supply for discharge PWM converters. Signal arriving from current sensor is fed to single-chip microprocessor which assigns and maintains desired level of charge and discharge currents in compliance with charge algorithm. Signal coming from storage battery voltage sensor is supplied to single-chip microprocessor for monitoring charging process and determining end-of-charge criteria. Capacitor discharge unit provides for continuous charge of storage batteries which should be fully discharged before their charging.

EFFECT: enlarged functional capabilities of capacitor discharge unit affording standard battery charge conditions.
