FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to synthesis of nitriles, particularly to the method of obtaining 3-phenoxyphenylcyanohydrine, which can be used as a half-finished product in the synthesis of some biologically active substances. The method of obtaining 3-phenoxyphenylcyanohydrine with formula: involves reaction of 3-phenoxybenzaldehyde with acetoncyanohydrine at high temperature for a period of 1.5-2 hours in the presence of a potassium carbonate catalyst with molar ratio 3-phenoxybenzaldehyde : acetoncyanohydrine : potassium carbonate equal to 1 : 1 : 0.015-0.02 with subsequent separation of the end product through re-crystallisation from a mixture of chloroform-hexane solvents in ratio of 1:1.5.
EFFECT: increased output and purity of proposed compound with shortening of the duration and simplification of the process.
