FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: sunflower seeds are treated with a mutagen, in particular, sodium azide or an alkylating agent, namely, ethylmethanesulphonate. Subsequent selection allows to obtain plants, the seeds of which contain oil with a stearic acid content of at least 12% of the total content of fatty acids. The saturated fatty acid distribution ratio α between the positions sn-1 and sn-3 is at least 0.38.
EFFECT: increased quality.
