FIELD: inspection technology.

SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to inspection technology and can be used in machine building for identifying hot and cold metallic and non-metallic objects. Hot metallic objects are moved relative the detecting element of the device, made from an inductive detecting element with a central opening and an infrared photodetector, which is fixed in line with the central opening. The controlled object crosses the electromagnetic field of the inductive detecting element and the infrared photodetector lights up. A pulsed information signal with logic level "1" appears at the first output of the device, carrying information on identification of a hot metallic object. In that case logic level "0" voltage appears at the second and third outputs of the device. A pulsed information signal at logic level "1" appearing only at the second output of the device indicates movement of hot non-metallic objects. In that case logic level "0" voltage is at the first and second outputs of the device. If a cold metallic object moves relative the detecting element of the device, a pulsed information signal at logic level "1" appears only at the third output of the device. In that case logic level "0" voltage is at the first and second outputs of the device. The device provides for identifying hot metallic, hot non-metallic and cold metallic objects with contact with them. The device can also be used as a pulsed remote sensor for controlling rotation of metallic and non-metallic objects based on their thermal state and type of material.
