SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to inspection technology and can be used in mechanical engineering for identifying heated and unheated objects. When a heated object moves relative the detecting element of the device, formed by a capacitive detecting element with a central through-opening and an infrared photodetector fitted in line with the opening, there is crossing of electric field of the capacitive detecting element and light-striking of the infrared photodetector. A logic level "1" signal registers at the first output terminal of the device, indicating that a heated object has passed through the zone of the detecting element of the device, and a "0" logic level voltage registers at the second output terminal. If an unheated object passes through the zone of the detecting element of the device, a logic level "1" signal registers only from the capacitive detecting element, and passes to the second output terminal of the device.
EFFECT: remote identification of heated and unheated metallic and non-metallic objects.
