FIELD: physics; control.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical engineering process automation and provides for non-contact monitoring of position of non-metal products and working members of process equipment. Purpose of invention is to eliminate sensor response to metal parts in order to provide for the sensor selectivity to non-metal products and to enhance reliability of its operation by eliminating false responses to foreign metal objects. The sensor consists of capacitive sensor located between the first and the second inductance coils and straight-lined with them. When non-metal part is moved relatively to the sensor in radial or axial direction, it successively interacts with electromagnetic and electric fields of the sensor. As a result, a high-level signal, which contains data on non-metal part inspection, is generated at the sensor output. In case of metal part motion no signal is generated at the sensor output, so its output voltage is low-level.
EFFECT: sensor selectivity to non-metal products due to elimination of sensor response to metal parts and enhanced reliability of its operation due to elimination of false responses to foreign metal objects.
