FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: while examination, the patient is scored for 4 reliable informative factors reflecting separate pathophysiological sensitisation mechanisms: general IgE blood plasma level; eosinophilia in peripheral blood film; eosinophilia in nasal smear; positive skin scratch tests with any of 6 allergens (house dust mites of 2 kinds, library dust mites; mould; animal epidermis: a cat, a dog). Derived scores are summarised to obtain the integrated sensitisation index (ISI) which being 4 to 6 shows intermittent BA not requiring regular basic therapy. If the ISI is within 7 to 9, persistent BA is diagnosed with obligatory prescribed inhalation steroids required.

EFFECT: method allows for reliable estimation of asthma severity, well-timed treatment tactics that substantially ensures favourable clinical outcome.
