FIELD: radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: present invention is meant for measuring the polarisation matrix of radar targets. The method of calibrating amplitude and phase distributions of an electromagnetic field involves measuring amplitude and phase distributions of a field in the measuring zone of a device, comprising an apparatus for measuring amplitude and phase of secondary emission from a target, using a metallic sphere. The sphere is successively moved to three Cartesian coordinates with the origin at the centre of the measuring zone, the abscissa of which coincides with the electrical axis of the antenna, and the ordinate coincides with the vertical. Amplitude and phase of secondary emission of the sphere are measured while moving.
EFFECT: possibility of measuring amplitude and phase distributions of a field on three Cartesian coordinates in a measuring zone, lying several meters above the surface of the earth.
