FIELD: instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method is based on measuring EPR pattern of dumb-bell reflector made up of two rigidly jointed equal-diametre metal balls. Dumb-bell reflector is placed in measuring zone to be certified so that the centre of one ball stays on the rotary device axis, while that of the other ball is located at the measuring zone boundary. Then the said dumb-bell reflector is rotated to measure and record its EPR pattern. Angular position of n-th zero of aforesaid reflector EPR pattern in flat field is calculated. Delay of the field phase Δφn in measuring zone, opposite the aforesaid n-th zero is calculated. To determine field phase delay, the calculated values of phase delay Δφn in wave front are laid off on the graph of dependence of field phase upon the measuring zone centre are connected by a smooth line. Amplitude distribution in the measuring zone is determined from the line, that envelopes the maxima of lobes of measured EPR pattern. The amplitude distribution values are normalised to the amplitude maximum value, when dump-bell axis is aligned with the unit antenna electrical axis.
EFFECT: possibility to measure field phase distribution in measuring zone, located some meters above surface using EPR measuring instruments.
