FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to computer graphics and computer operation systems, particularly to the method of displaying desktop on a computer, using an operation system with a linked desktop model. The technical outcome is achieved due to that, the window manager of the linked desktop, upon receiving content information from application programs, draws a window in buffer memory for future use, and takes advantage of improved graphic hardware and visual effects to display windows, based on the content on which they are drawn. The windows can also be displayed, based on varying media, comprising virtual light sources. The frame part of each window can be generated through pixel shading of the bitmap, which looks like depolished glass, based on content of the desktop, at the top of which the frame is displayed. There is provision for legacy support so that, the operation system can draw and display windows, generated by legacy applications, which look compatible with application windows not from the legacy.
EFFECT: broader options for visual presentation of rich content and use of improved graphic reproduction.
