FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: crystalliser consists of four working walls with vertical channels for cooling medium. The first pair of walls is designed to travel and has an inclined upper section and vertical lower section. The second pair performs reciprocal motions. Granular material used as cooling medium facilitates uniform cooling of the upper section of the first pair of walls. A band conveyor and a charging funnel are assembled over the vertical channels of the first pair of walls; granular material comes from the funnel into the vertical channel wherein a cable with disks secured thereto runs. The cable with disks is transferred by means of two pairs of drawing rollers pushing heated granular material out from the vertical channel on the band conveyor located under the vertical channels and into a refrigerator-collector under the band conveyor.
EFFECT: upgraded quality of billets.
