FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention consists of vacuum cooled melting chamber and electron gun with focusing electrodes. A lower electrode is made in form of a disk with a central opening for arranging of treated metal. Focusing electrodes are tied between them with at least one pole secured to their external side surfaces. The upper electrode corresponds to a bushing installed coaxially to the disk; the bushing has a "П"-shaped circular slot facing the lower electrode; and a filamentous circular cathode is installed in the slot. The cathode is located on a direct line connecting the upper internal edge of the disk and lower internal edge of the "П"-shaped slot of the bushing at distance from the said edges determined from ratio: a:b=6.5÷7.5, where a is distance from axis of the filamentous cathode to the lower electrode and b is distance from the axis of the filamentous cathode to the lower edge of the upper electrode.
EFFECT: upgraded quality of crystallographic quality and increased yield of mono crystals.
