FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to methods of nonmetal materials cutting, mostly glass, and is applicable in motor industry for making of glasses and mirrors, in electronic industry, and also in other engineering fields. Cutting method includes local action at cutting lines by beam of radiation of infrared radiation laser, cooling of section at cutting line by cooling agent. Local action at cutting lines is done by radiation beam of pulse-periodic laser of medium infrared range, energy and duration of radiation are varied. At first in material they create a microdefect by radiation pulses with duration from 10-4 to 10-3 and energy from 0.01 to 10 J, recurring with frequency of not more than 5 Hz. Then microdefect is transformed into controlled crack by increase of pulse recurrence frequency to the value of (1-50) kHz with the average capacity from 10 to 300 Wt. Device for cutting of brittle nonmetal materials comprises infrared laser, radiation of which is focused on glass surface into elliptical spot, mechanism of cooling agent supply. Device also comprises pulse infrared laser, vacuum chuck providing for flatness of glass surface. In order to displace the glass along any contour, there is a two-coordinate table on an air suspension with step motor. Control of glass 3 fixation and displacement, supply of cooling agent, operation of lasers 1 and 7 is carried out by control unit 12 in accordance with the specified program.

EFFECT: higher quality of cutting of brittle nonmetal materials.
