FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: in method cooling jet of rolls are not connected to operation of jets of secondary cooling of ingot. Feeding of cooler on roller, located over ingot, is started at expiration 0.5-1.1 time of complete consolidation of ingot after passing by head part of ingot under roller. Cooling of rollers, located under ingot, is started directly with beginning of extending of continuous casting. At stop or at reduction of pouring rate up to 0.4 from working external cooling of rollers is stopped. On rollers, located over ingot, cooler is fed lengthwise roll barrel angularly 1-15 to generatrix. Width of irrigation area is 0.4-0.8 of roll diametre. On roll, located under ingot, cooler is fed by flat jets, planes of which passing through generatrix of roller barrel. Width of irrigation area is 0.4-1.0 of length of roller barrel.
EFFECT: increasing of rolls stability and decreasing of cracks in ingot.
