FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, particularly to power supply of electric railways and can be used in overhead systems incorporating short-circuit protection for faulty insulation on overhead system supports. Proposed overhead system comprises carrying cable, contact cable, strings, cantilever, tie rod and retainer rods arranged on every support. Note here that carrying cable, strings and contact cable are isolated from metal fasteners with the help of insulators. Note also that is comprises an additional wire connected, via spark gaps, with supports in overhead system protected zones. Proposed device comprises additionally at least two insulator state control units connected with aforesaid additional wire to lock current direction in additional wire when at least one insulator fails.
EFFECT: higher reliability, comprehensive control.
