FIELD: power industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for being used at storage facilities of waste nuclear fuel at the works for reprocessing of such fuel or at nuclear power plants. Cover for arranging and storing waste fuel assemblies is made from stainless steel and includes a central tube, square spacer grids with twenty holes for installation of the tubes the axes of which are located symmetrically relative to central cover axis at the points with certain values of polar coordinates Ri and α1, at which waste fuel assemblies are arranged. To upper and lower spacer grids there tightly attached are tubes by welding, in which there arranged are waste fuel assemblies, and along the cover perimetre - linings forming tight inter-tube space; at that, distance between upper and lower spacer grids is determined from the following condition: weight of cover in water is more than buoyancy force of tight inter-tube space by 200-300 kg.
EFFECT: increasing useful load factor of the storage facilities for waste fuel assemblies and decreasing foundation loads and storage reservoir lining loads, and loads on used cranes.
