FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: image of the inspected object is transmitted using high-energy beams and low-energy beams to transmit a high-energy image and a low-energy image of the object on which the value of each pixel which depends on permeability through the object in the high-energy mage indicates high-energy permeability of high-energy beams through corresponding parts of the object, and the value of each pixel which depends on permeability through the object in the low-energy image indicates low-energy permeability of low-energy beams through corresponding parts of the object. The value of the first high-energy permeability function and the value of the second high-energy permeability and low-energy permeability function for each pixel are calculated and areas of the object are classified from the type of substance based on the value of the first function and the value of the second function using a pre-plotted classification curve for identifying the type of substance of the part of the object corresponding to each pixel.

EFFECT: high distinguishability of materials in an inspected object.
