FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: when identifying substances in an article subject to inspection a first main beam and a first auxiliary beam having a first energy are emitted and a second main beam and a second auxiliary beam having a second energy are emitted. The first and second main beams are transmitted to through the inspected article. The first and second auxiliary beams are transmitted at least through one unit of standard materials in real time. Values of the first and second main beams transmitted through the inspected article are collected as data with two energy levels, and values of the first and second auxiliary beams transmitted through the unit of standard materials in real time are collected as correcting parametres, after which the range of classification parametres is set up based on correcting parametres and the substance is identified in accordance with data with two energy levels based on the corrected classification parametres.
EFFECT: more stable identification of materials.
