FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: for modeling type I diabetes mellitus in rats as experimental animal, rat of Wistar breed, genetically non-predisposed to development of autoimmune diseases, is selected. Three doses of streptozotocin are introduced to experimental animal with 7 day interval. During first introduction amount of introduced medication is determined in amount 25 mg/kg of experimental animal body weight. During second introduction amount of introduced medication is determined in amount 20 mg/kg of experimental animal body weight. During third introduction amount of introduced medication is determined in amount 25 mg/kg of experimental animal body weight. Each introduction of streptozotocin to animal is carried out after 12 hours of fasting. A day before each introduction of streptozotocin 1 ml of incomplete Freund's adjuvant is introduced intraperitoneally.

EFFECT: method ensures adequate model reproduction.
