FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building. Proposed method comprises sequential cutting convex and concave sides of tooth by cutting tools with zero angle of cutting element profile, cutting elements forming lengthwise arched profile, and crosswise involute profile during workpiece rolling when tool revolves about its axis perpendicular to rolling plane and staying in the plane of symmetry of rim gear being cut. Tooth cutting is performed by cutting tools with various radii of profiling points arrangement. In cutting curvilinear transition surfaces located below involute surface, and cylindrical surfaces between teeth, ad involute surfaces nearby curvilinear transition sections, cutting tool profiling points roll over the plane tangential to dividing cylinder, and are arranged on circumference with preset radius equal to that of envelope of initial outline shift line on dividing cylinder flat envelope. Note that in cutting involute surfaces by profiling points, rolling is performed in the plane tangential to the main cylinder, and are arranged on circumference with radius that satisfies the dependency upon the angle of rack initial profile and rim gear wide in the form of cited expression.
EFFECT: higher wear resistance, smooth operation and reduced noise.
