FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises sequential machining of convex and concave sides of teeth by revolving cutting heads provided with cutters. Cutting edges of said cutters are located parallel with head rotational axis while shaping points are located on main cutting edges on one circle in plane perpendicular to head rotational axis. Note here that both convex and concave sides of every tooth comprises machining involute surface wherein relevant cutting head is arranged so that shaping points of its cutters are located in plane tangential to main cylinder. Then gear is revolved about its axis while cutting head is translated from gear rim plane of symmetry in direction perpendicular to head rotational axis with liner speed equal to product of angular rotation speed of gear by main cylinder radius. To increase cutter life, cutting heads are used with cutter shaping points located on circles with their radii being defined by claimed mathematical relations.
EFFECT: longer life.
