FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, cardiology, pulmonology, radiology. Chest radiograph in direct projection is performed. Areas of heart tissues, right and left lungs are determined. As landmarks of heart and lungs boundaries serve edges of their shadows on radiograph. Heart-lung index (HLI) is determined by formula: HLI=(Sheart×100):(Sright lung + Sleft lung+ Sheart). If HLI is 17-26% heart/lung ratio is estimated as normal, 27-30% - as boundary, more than 30% - as pathological (cardiomegaly).
EFFECT: application of invention ensures determination of anatomical ratio between heart and lungs in chest in normal state and in case of development of cardiomegaly, accompanied by restriction of lungs.
