FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine and can be used for assessing stability of fixation of sternum after longitudinal sternotomy in detection of diastasis between fragments of sternum. That is ensured by ultrasonic examination. Linear sensor in gray scale mode is installed in transverse position to axis of sternum in area of its body along fixation line of fragments of sternum. Then, sensor is moved in caudal direction. As the sensor moves, a loading test is performed every 2–3 cm. Patient is asked to take deep inhalations-exhalations or cough. Examination is completed in the area of the lower third of the sternum upon reaching the xiphoid process. If the linear interfragmental hyperechoic bone shadows remain motionless relative to each other during the loading test, stability of the sternum fixation is determined. If observing a sample of linear interfragmental hyperechoic bone shadows relative to each other and increasing the slit therebetween, instability of the sternum fixation is determined.
EFFECT: invention provides more accurate assessment by detecting signs of fixation instability of sternum.
