FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: quantum amplifier consists of laser media activated by neodymium and ytterbium, and optical pumping apparatus. The laser medium consists of at least two active elements, one activated by ytterbium and the other by neodymium. The amplification spectra of the active elements are frequency shifted relative each other, and the optical pumping apparatus are configured to selectively pump in absorption bands of ytterbium and neodymium at different wavelengths using semiconductor lasers or light-emitting diodes.

EFFECT: possibility of amplification with amplification spectrum width greater than the spectrum width of media activated by ytterbium and neodymium.
